We got tired of payments eating the roadmap.
Mavenkopay was founded in 2024 by three engineers who, between them, had shipped payments at a marketplace, a neobank and a SaaS — and lost a quarter to it every single time. We built the platform we wished we'd had: one a two-person team ships in an afternoon.
Make payments a Tuesday, not a quarter.
Accepting money should not be the hardest part of building a product. The primitives are solved; the integration time is not. Every week a team spends wiring a gateway is a week not spent on the thing customers actually came for.
So we obsess over one number: how long from sign-up to a real captured payment. Today the median is an afternoon. We intend to make it an hour.
How we build the platform.
The docs are the product
If the integration needs a support ticket, the docs failed. We write, test and dogfood every example before it ships, and treat a confusing error message as a bug.
Sandbox equals production
The test environment returns the same status codes, the same edge cases and the same webhooks as live. Flipping the key should never be the scary step.
Compliance is ours to carry
PCI, SCA, residency, audit logs — the heavy regulatory work belongs to the platform, not to a four-person team trying to launch a product.
We're 61 people, in 3 cities.
